About

The Italian Cultural Institute is a centre for cultural and academic activities, a source of information about contemporary Italy and Europe, its regions and its multilayered cultural heritage as well as a venue for art exhibitions, lectures, films, and video screenings. It provides the opportunity for collaboration between Italian and Canadian cultural organizations and individuals and facilitates exchanges in the field of art, theatre, music and cinema. The Institute traditionally collaborates with local Italian and European associations in preserving their cultural roots.
It supports initiatives which favour intercultural and multilateral dialogue based on the principles of democracy, reciprocal respect and international solidarity and it is often involved in events organized by other cultural offices of the EU countries. IIC has been an active member of EUNIC Canada since its foundation.

Role

The Italian Cultural Institute will assure cooperation within the EUNIC network in Canada through the organisation of dedicated meetings. It will offer logistic support and staff to the Canadian consortium for meetings and press-conferences.
It will organise and co-host seminars and conferences to disseminate the Performigrations project mandate, concept and achievements. It will lead some web based collaborative activities in collaboration with the Mobile Media Lab, also in Montreal. Also, IIC will contribute to the communication plan in Canada, to monitor and assess activities, and to support the project fundraising/sustainability.
